Last week, we stepped out of the day-to-day to mark something that does not come around often.
Forty years of Harbor.
We gathered at Shipyard Park, a place Harbor helped bring to life. Being there was not lost on us. It felt fitting. A reminder of the kind of work that lasts and the role we have played in shaping spaces people continue to use every day.
What stood out most, though, was not the setting. It was the people.
The room held decades of relationships. Longtime partners. Clients who have trusted us more than once. Team members who have been here through different chapters, alongside those helping shape what comes next. It was a reflection of how Harbor has grown and who has been part of that growth.
The night also gave us the chance to recognize the person who started it all, David Matthews.
His vision built the foundation for everything that followed. Not just in the projects Harbor has completed, but in the way the work is approached. Steady. Thoughtful. Focused on doing things the right way.
That standard still carries through today.
Milestones like this can easily become about numbers. Years in business. Projects completed. Growth over time.
But standing in that room, it was clear that is not what defines it.
It is the consistency. The relationships. The trust built over time.
Forty years in, the expectation remains the same. Do the work well. Communicate clearly. Take care of the people who trust you with it.
That is what moves forward from here.
